FBI agent, federal prosecutor assigned to monitor election

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Federal law enforcement authorities are stepping up their vigilance for any possible civil rights violations related to the Nov. 3 election by establishing an FBI command post and assigning a prosecutor to monitor complaints or threats.

The precautionary effort is unprecedented in recent memory and was announced at a joint news conference Monday attended by New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver and officials from the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s office.

Absentee ballots in New Mexico to be sent out Tuesday

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Tuesday, Oct. 6 kicks off the start of voting in New Mexico for the 2020 presidential election. County clerks across the state will begin sending out absentee ballots to voters who have requested them.

Data from the secretary of state’s office shows as of late last week, nearly 300,000 absentee ballots have been requested. Voters have until 5 p.m. on October 20 to request an absentee ballot.

November ballot includes funding for big projects at universities

The general obligation bonds come around every two years. If this GO Bond C is approved, it would give UNM $51,400,000 for seven projects among all its campuses.

“This bond is very important to us because it allows us to continue our cutting-edge research in the years to come,” Arash Mafi, Director of ChtM at UNM said in a promotional video produced by UNM.
