The new head of the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, Alex Wiggins, wants to hear from people who use the city’s public transportation system.
Wiggins, who started work in July, embarked on a monthlong “listening tour” beginning Monday evening at the Mid-City Library on Canal Street.
“Since my first day with RTA, I have been dedicated to connecting with the people we serve,” Wiggins said in a statement on the RTA’s website.
Wiggins, a New Orleans native, came to the RTA from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where he served as chief of security.
He has said he intends to focus in part on beefing up bus service to Algiers and New Orleans East and on creating more regional connections.
